Peter Robb - Artistic Director / Resident Composer

Co-founder and artistic director of Pacific International Choral Festivals, Peter Robb’s collaborations with Henry Leck, Sandra Snow, Bob Chilcott, Andrea Ramsey, Lynne Gackle, Moira Smiley and many more have resulted in twenty-five years of extraordinary music making and community building for 180 youth choirs from 40 states and provinces in six countries.

Peter has directed choirs and taught in elementary, middle, high school and university settings in addition to working with civic and professional choruses in his thirty-three years as a choral director. For thirteen years, Peter led Oregon Festival Choirs, often preparing treble choirs for the Oregon Bach Festival and other professional performing arts organizations, including work with conductors Helmuth Rilling and Marin Alsop. He continues to prepare choirs for major performances and is active as a clinician and guest conductor.

Peter’s choral compositions and arrangements are published with Hal Leonard and Colla Voce Music, and Peter Robb Music (available on MusicSpoke.com). His Missa Brevis No.1 has been performed in Carnegie Hall, Canterbury Cathedral, London’s Southwark Cathedral, Leipzig’s Thomaskirche, and by the National Children’s Honor Choir at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference.

Lori Schmelz - General Manager 

Hired as General Manager in August 2019, Lori Schmelz comes to picfest with 15+ years of experience in arts administration and the nonprofit industry. Lori has held positions with the South Dakota Arts Council, Cultural DC, and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Most recently she worked at the Maine Arts Commission as the Director of Operations.

Through her experience in arts administration, Lori has developed significant skills in fundraising and grant writing, budgeting, and strategic planning. During her tenure at the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, she created an online process for preparing panelists to review grant applications which was recognized as a best practice by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. While at the Maine Arts Commission, she worked to design a new online grants management system and implemented a new process for calculating the funding of grant applications. Lori also has a strong background in music having studied viola and piano since the age of 8.

Lori holds a Masters of Science in Arts Administration and MBA from Shenandoah University. She lives in Eugene with her husband and two children.

Charlotte Coons - Administrative Assistant 

Charlotte is a third-generation Eugenian. She is currently attending the University of Oregon, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with plans to be a middle or high school music teacher. When not at school or in the picfest office, Charlotte can be spotted walking her dog, an Australian Shepherd named Mungo, or practicing the art of Muay Thai.
