Andrea Ramsey returns for her third season as guest conductor of the wonderful Young Women’s Choral Festival. As a composer, conductor, educator and presenter, Andrea’s mastery is extraordinary to behold.
Past participants say:
We had such an amazing week. Everything about it was conducive to creating at a very high level.
The other choirs and their directors were, plain and simply, so warm and lovely. It was great to see that, by day 2, the girls were intermingling at meals, etc.
I have to say that Andrea Ramsey is one of the loveliest, gentlest/yet demanding in the nicest possible way, clinicians I have ever seen work with my singers.
Dr. Ramsey was ‘hip’ to our singers; funny, sensitive to the ethos in the room, and able to evoke such amazing work from all the girls.
Andrea Ramsey reflects on picfest:
I always leave inspired by the spirits of so many bright and competent young women working together, and by the artistry of Moira Smiley, whose stunning vocalism and captivating performances leaves us all in awe.
I love our rehearsal time together. The singers and I discover more of who we are as human beings, come to better understand what we can accomplish together, and reach a new vista of artistic expression.
The choral art provides such riches – including community, humanity, discovery, and opportunity.
The fantastic picfest staff create a community of warmth and unity that permeates every aspect of the event.
Performances from the Oregon Bach Festival and personal interaction with Moira Smiley and VOCO round out the week’s-worth of wonders.
