Season 19 in Review

In commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespeare, the festival repertoire celebrated choral settings of great poetry. Throughout both weeks, one of the central highlights was collaboration, an obvious instance being the collaboration between poet and composer – even when the poet has been gone for four centuries.

In fact, there were many pairings that made for great collaborations this season: biblical and medieval texts with modern music; conductor with singers; 16 choirs joining as two festival choruses; guest artists with festival participants; picfest with Oregon Bach Festival; jazz, folk music from around the world with the choral tradition. The end result? A synergy that elevated everyone and every element!
